Continuing its over 100 year tradition of successful education of the youth of the Washington Heights/Inwood area, Mother Cabrini High School plans to unveil a Montessori nursery school for children ages 2½ to 6 years.  Set in a safe, enriching environment overlooking the Hudson River, Cabrini Montessori Academy offers an upper-tier preschool program with an early education philosophy containing the following Montessori tenets:

·       Development of toddlers’ minds and hearts, with a focus on fostering child’s sense of independence

·       Careful cultivation of teacher-student-parent bond

·       Values-based education promoting intellectual and spiritual growth

·       Sensory awareness education

·       Emphasis on educating children about other cultures, animals, and plants in addition to reading, language, and mathematical skills

·       Teacher, or teacher’s assistant, works with toddlers one on one and as a group, with most interaction being among the children themselves
